Meh, well...honestly the first season was the weakest of the first series. I'll give them some time to build up.

And I honestly prefer Korra as a protagonist to Aang pleasedon'tkillme

Now, mind, I like this series. A lot.

But if I could play devil's advocate, when they made these episodes, they thought they only had the one series. They didn't know they were going to have more episodes till I believe they were polishing the last one, or at least very far in.

So this story was not meant to be stretched. You can't compare it to ATLA that way because they knew they had time to tell that story and wrote it accordingly.

Here, they were more in a rush, understandably. Now I don't see this as that bad of a thing, but we cant' say "they are just building up" because they really didn't write it that way this time.

Actually, ATLA was prepared to end at the end of The Blue Spirit. (I remember reading that around the time it kept coming up as "The Red Spirit" on either avatarspirit.net or a different website, but unfortunately, I don't know where I'd find the source...)
