Uuuuh, I'm pretty sure that from the trailer she turns her entire family into bears? Like, there's a clip of three bear cubs being obnoxious and she has three obnoxious little brothers...

The three bear cubs in the trailers -- coupled with an interview I read about her brothers not having speaking roles -- are what made the lightbulb go off over my head (just this morning, I'll admit). I just inferred one or both of her parents got turned into bears, too.

I figured out the brothers turning into bears from the trailer thing I saw, but I had no idea about the mother (and father?) and wouldn't have put that together unless someone pointed it out. I figured the kingdom got geared up for war after the brothers went missing (were turned into bears), and Merida had to go fix it by...something, I don't know. I never had much interest in this movie, even though it looks stunning.
