I feel you, op. I don't really do literary characters, but I love to fill out stat sheets about think up campaigns in my head, and I've always been depressed about my inability to find people to play with. Now that I have a family, I feel like I should just give up.

It's harmless fun, OP, nothing wrong with it.

As long as you don't wind up thinking that it's like, a literary genius type of thing to do stuff like that *cough*likethetropers*cough*, there's nothing wrong with indulging things like roleplaying games.

I personally find this more fun with a system like GURPS, where you can play around with different skills and point sets, but I get where you're coming from, OP. I walked out of the first Iron Man movie shaking my head and saying, "INT 17, CHA 17, WIS 5. Interesting choice for a dump stat there, Tony."

Human or half-elf bard or wizard. High intelligence low strength and constitution. I'm very squishy.

I've never felt the urge to stat up characters, but I still do that sometimes with monsters.

You should make a community and post the character stats you've come up with - I'd find that fun!

I miss playing regularly too. I have a high-level build I never got to do- the ultimate plan for my character from our first campaign, that we played regularly for 3-4 years then concluded once no one was in high school anymore. That phase of our lives ending and the release of 4th edition really ended our D&D period.

That is completely awesome.

I'll also try to stat out my favorite characters from other systems, just to see how high a level I need to make them to get them right.

I also find myself applying various systems to movies - Thor was definitely Scion, but I can't figure out the rest yet. But all of the Avengers are definitely playing different systems and are being meshed together by an excellent GM - look at the difference in power levels!

Don't give up hope. You may have to brave the murky and occasionally helpful waters of 4chan's /tg/, but there *are* people out there who want a game.
