Why don't you commission an artist instead of whining that there are no good images for you to steal.

It sounds more like a general complaint about the lack of well-portrayed middle-eastern characters in the mentioned genres than boohoo I can't steal licensed images to me. At least it sounded that way because they complain about the plethora of white blond blue eyed characters and about stereotypes. Maybe OP didn't notice the problem until they had a reason to look, idk. I wouldn't have thought of it myself, it's not something I would normally go looking for.

I think it's telling that no characters are there and the OP *has* to get commissioned art for her character, regardless. OP, I'd offer suggestions but I can't think of any characters either. That's pretty sad, now that I think about it.

I never realized how few there were. This is really bothering me now. I've read a whole lot of unlicensed manga (set in the middle east even) and I can't even think of one.

I can only think of the maid in GOSICK. She was the culprit of one of the cases, but a very sympathetic character who was just getting back at the woman who led to the deaths of many innocent children. >_>;

Aside from her, though, I can't think of any...

Oh! Wait, there's the reaaally old Arabian Nights: Sinbad's Adventures anime, which is super cute and is still shown frequently on TV dubbed in Arabic. I loved that show as a kid! ♥ It's a bit stereotypical, but they were going for a fantastic, old timey setting.

In recent years, it's getting harder to find well-portrayed Middle Eastern characters, definitely. Boy, do I hate the "Arabs = terrorists" stereotype that sneaks up even in shows that are otherwise great.

Maybe try looking up Assassin's Creed fanart? A few of the characters from AC 1 have the sort of skin tone, like I believe Malik does. Plenty of modern AU pics to chose from, as far as I remember, and the fanbase has many anime-style artists.

My first thought for a series was Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, but I've only read the beginning of that and I'm not sure how well it counts. Still, could be worth a look.

Is there a reason (comm rules, personal aesthetic preference, unusual/non-human features, etc) why you couldn't use a live-action PB? It'd probably be easier to find.

I can only think of GOSICK, but the light-brown-skinned Middle Eastern character in it is a woman... ^^;; Actually, I can only think of female Arab characters in anime/manga.

There is a male brown-skinned character there that doesn't look entirely black (African on his father's side, French on his mother's), in that he has blue eyes and relatively straight hair, although he's not blonde or light-skinned (black/dark brown hair and dark brown skin). He's probably too soft-featured for your character, though... kind of more on the bishie side.

And you can use a canon character as a PB! Especially one that isn't well-known. Absolutely not off-limits. The well-known ones might easily cause confusion, though...

On the other hand, I've seen Winry and Lust both used as PBs before!
