Body horror is the only type of horror that'll keep me from getting a good night's sleep, yet I don't find this scary at all?

But I know the feel, OP. Best to just avoid it till you can cleanse it from your memory or grow used to it.

Same here. I think it doesn't bother me because it resembles more a creature than a deformed human, so it doesn't register in my brain as "ohgodsowrongwhyhelpohahahahah".

Ehhh- maybe's it's how it's displayed? Like, I can take violence and most accounts of body horror just fine as long it's only in word-form, or in comic or manga-form. Video-form though? I nearly ran out of the theater when Hermione was being tortured by Bellatrix, and walked out of the room at some point when my cousins were watching 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' (the remake).
