If fandom was calling out sexism for a long time prior to the "SJW movement", why the fuck was it so bad up until very, very recently?

Oh yeah. Because they fucking sucked at it.

Or possibly because what you call sexism actually isn't in the eyes of most reasonable people.

Really? Having a television show where all the female characters are shown to be inferior, stupid, silly, etc. and, for the most part, die horribly isn't sexist? Having male characters use sexist insults against women and talk down to them throughout a show isn't sexist? Fandom calling all female characters in a given show/movie/book "bitches" and "whores" and going on about how "useless" and "stupid" they are isn't sexist? Fandom calling woman characters "sluts" because they sleep with one of the male leads or want to isn't sexist?

Because I've seen that and a LOT more, and NOBODY in those fandoms called them out until the so-called "SJWs" came along. NOBODY.

Wait, how did fandom SJWs change what was happening in the Televison show itself?

And also wait a minute, I was big into Metafandom before the whole SJW trend came along and a lot of the articles there were calling out television shows on their sexism. People wrote in their blogs about it. People made meta posts to communities about it. I've written meta posts about it pre 2008.

So you are wrong, people did discuss the issue, they didn't pound it into the ground over and over again and act like they are the only ones bringing the subject up.

And talking endlessly about something in fandom isn't the same as improving it in canon. How can you even mix those two up?

It IS still so bad. God, do you think you've cured sexism on the Internet?
