Exactly! If it wasn't for all the lurking I've done in this community, I wouldn't even know what words to search for. Most people really don't know even the "basics".

And, yes, there are always people who won't care even if you try to nudge them in the right direction, but isn't it worth it for all the people that do want a nudge to change for the better? Dismissing everyone as people who want to stay ignorant and have excuses to be mean forever and ever isn't cool at all. :(

I like your approach, with the bookmarks and search terms, and all. I wish that the rest of the "SJWs" were at least a little more patient, like you. :)

It wasn't all that long ago that I was pretty ignorant myself. I learned very quickly to just lurk because otherwise I saw so many people make a minor mistake in phrasing, or not be totally aware of how some words were problematic, etc etc etc, and then not be given a second chance. It is pretty fucking awful when someone just makes a mistake, tries to learn from it, and then has people mocking them for it in totally different communities. (And sadly, I have seen this happen in too many cases. Particularly if the person has difficulty "getting" what people are trying to explain.)

I really hate that it's that way, because I know for me, I wanted to ask some clarification on various things and was afraid to because I saw so many other people ridiculed for not knowing things.

I don't necessarily think it's the majority of people, but the people who do it are very freaking vocal.

I'll admit that if someone makes it clear that they don't give a shit, I have no compunctions about calling them an asshole, but to assume that everyone is like that is pretty reprehensible to me.

I have hopes that eventually things will start shifting for the better.

Internet communities are starting to wise up about who is really trying to help and who isn't.
