But do you understand that there is a HUGE difference between a person who willfully calls a PoC the N-word and thinks that they all need to be sterilized and killed, and a person who used the word "gyp" and maybe wasn't aware of its etymology? Do you understand that those two situations warrant very different levels of reactivity, and that responding to a person's genuine ignorance with the same amount of vitrol as the person using the N-word is not just inappropriate, but also unnecessary and mean (especially if the person has apologized)? (Though to be honest, I've only very rarely seen an apology be met with "thank you for apologizing and realizing your mistake" as opposed to "UGH YOU'RE SO FAKE IF YOU REALLY FELT BAD YOU WOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND BESIDES SOMETHING IN YOUR FIFTH APOLOGY SOUNDS A LITTLE PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE TO ME, CLEARLY YOU AREN'T SORRY YOU PIECE OF SHIT, I HOPE YOU GET BEAT UP".) If you're going to take on the self-appointed responsibility of educating people to be less ignorant and more tolerant and aware, then, well, yeah. It IS your responsibility to educate them instead of just insulting them for something that they aren't even aware that they did wrong (and then getting even MORE angry and aggressive with them when they don't know what they did wrong because you refuse to explain it to them other than to tell them to go fuck off and Google it, which apparently makes them even more of an asshole).
