I don't have specific links, but I've seen various videos on Youtube from conventions where they make fun of gay people (well, just guys, really, lesbians are never mentioned). I mean, it's not like they ever come out and say "gay people are bad/evil", it's just the implication that gay men are uncool/girly/not manly/beneath them. I know there's one where Jensen does this whole ridiculously stereotypical limp-wristed, talking-with-a-lisp thing and prances across the stage. I can't remember the titles or keywords to search for but if you look at convention videos on Youtube you're bound to come across one eventually because there are several similar incidents. I don't know, maybe some people wouldn't consider it homophobic, but I felt like it made them look idiots, and definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

I remember reading a couple comments from people that were basically "well, I hope all those rumors about them being secret lovers are true, and this is just them being defensive, because otherwise they're assholes", but personally, I tend to think they're just assholes.

I don't know, I'm sure some people will think I'm overreacting or being too sensitive, but I just found it hard to like them after that, at least as much as I did before.

I am so glad you posted this anon. I always felt uncomfortable when I see outtakes/photos/vids with them acting like a stereotypical gay person. I found it super insulting and hurtful. Yet so much of fandom eats it up and seems to encourage it.

Then it fills me with rage when I see the people who "OMG [Jared/Jensen/Misha/Sebastian] are soooo funny, LOL" when they play the stereotype. The worst part is I have often seen those same people go off the wall crazy with rage when there is any hint of homophobia outside SPN fandom.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one! I figured I'd get "OMG it's just a joke you're taking it too seriously!!!!" comments, because there are always a ton of people in the videos cracking up laughing, and like you said, a lot of the fandom seems to like and encourage it. But yeah, it makes me uncomfortable, too, and I just think "how is this funny at all? they're acting like total jackasses".

I hadn't come across anyone thinks the stereotypical bullshit is funny also complaining about homophobia, but it doesn't surprise me at all to hear that it's out there. This fandom is so full of contradictions and double standards it's ridiculous.
