3. OMFG YES. I've fangirled VERY few couples of ANY kind like I fangirled these two. OTP, OTP, FUCKIN' OTP.

14. Jesus... just *what* do people want in female characters to start? No matter what she does, a fictional female will ALWAYS have peope ready to jump at her for the any reason: "Too fanservicy". "Too sweet". "Too bitchy". "Too pretty". "Too angsty".

Sadly, 90% of times all the reasons are reduced to one: "She's female".

LOL NO.

In my opinion (#14), it all depends on character development. This is why I am enjoying the Hell out of Turn A Gundam. It likes to take its female characters and peel their personalities like big, tasty onions. Seed and Seed Destiny like to throw characters at the viewer with no real development except one or two defining characteristics, and that makes it very easy to hate a character like Flay.

[identity profile] dropsofgleam.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
14. What happens, then, when a female character *does* have more or less *effective* character development and *even then* she's bashed? Some examples would be the lady in my icon (Orihime from Bleach), Rue from Princess Tutu and Sakura from Naruto, who HAVE more or less developed beyond their defining characteristics... yet some people STILL refuse to see through the "bouncy boobs and ditziness", "possessive whore" or "obsessed Sasuke bitch" labels slapped on them.

[identity profile] samuraiter.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
*chuckles*

That, I do not know. I am a male fan, so many of those labels are a little perplexing to me. (Sakura can be a bit of a nag, but I think being around that little pissant -- IMO -- Naruto all day would make anybody bitchy.)

[identity profile] dropsofgleam.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Much as I find Naruto himself amusing and all, I agree. At this rate, it looks like Hinata is the only one who'd never ever become bitchy with him 24/7 around. ^-^

3. they have so much chemistry, more than 90% of all canon couples. But everyone wants to write Muraki pairings! Do they not see that he's a bastard?

[identity profile] dropsofgleam.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
3. Muraki is a fascinating chara and all, yeah. But let's face it... he IS a twisted bastard, and NOTHING will change that. IIRC, even the two persons he more-or-less *does* cares for, Ukyou and Oriya, know that. How come some fans refuse to see that... uh, I dunno.

[identity profile] urplesquirrel.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I b'lieve it cause he's just that pretty, right?

[identity profile] dropsofgleam.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty? Well, yeah, he's not bad looking BUT THAT EYE AAAAUGH FREAKY...! DDDDD8 *runs like Hell*

Well, in a massive poll, 60percent of fans ship Tsusoka, compared to the 30percent Muzuki shippers. =/

I...can't actually stand the Muzuki pairing, I don't know why.

[identity profile] militarypenguin.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I can't stand it either and I like dark pairings. Probably because I can't stand how it's portrayed by the fans, save for sane ones, that is.

[identity profile] kurenai-tenka.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* Same here on the dark pairings, and maybe so on the later.

I mean, I can umderstand when the fans of it say it's 'hot' or 'interesting' or something like that, but when they say they love it because it's 'OMGSOCUTTTE!111!' then I kinda wanna kill something.

[identity profile] militarypenguin.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Some people aren't into fluff and prefer exploring the darker aspects. (Not to imply that Tsuzuki/Hisoka doesn't have that potential--just sayin')

[identity profile] kirbyhead.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
My problem with her is not that she's female. Me, I love a lot of female anime characters. But they were just so ANNOYING. I would have hated them just as much, if not more, if they were male. (I'm not a yaoi fan, though, so maybe that's why. I swear, you can take the most annoying, typical female archetypes, make 'em male, and people will love it. @___@)

Personally, I think female anime characters get a lot of flack, too. Look at Sakura from Naruto. She's developed from a rather annoying character to a strong individual, regardless of the fact that she has breasts. But people still hate her for various reasons. I guess there's just no love for the female gender in anime, huh?

[identity profile] kirbyhead.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
(Also want to clarify that when I said "them", I meant Lacus and Flay.)

Honestly, I'm tired of being labeled as an anime-misogynist (I'm a girl too, for crying out loud!) just because I hate some anime characters that just HAPPEN to be female. I mean, whatever happened to undiscriminatory hatred? Can't I just hate a character's personality, regardless of what sex they belong to? XD

Flay spends half the series either cowering in the main character's bed or urging him to go fight to protect her in the secret hope that he'll get himself killed.

Lacus has a random personality shift towards the end of the series and goes from being innocent and happy-go-lucky to being apparently all-knowing and prone to spouting wisdom. This is why I call her a fortune cookie.

Both are potentially good characters in 'fic, but I feel that the source itself handles them rather poorly.

[identity profile] marikandcloe.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
I always shake my head at people who flip out when someone says they hate a certain character who happens to be a girl. People hate guy characters too, you can just hate a character because of their personality and how they act and leave it at that.

It's not always a I HATE GIRL CHARACTERS CUZ THEY BE STEALIN MA YAOI OTP'S MAN! >:[ thing.

[identity profile] maladaptive.livejournal.com 2007-07-21 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
No no, if you don't like a female character it's because you're either a rabid yaoi fan or an angry feminist that's never pleased.

You can't just not like female characters because you don't like the character. Didn't you get the memo? :P

[identity profile] marikandcloe.livejournal.com 2007-07-21 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Lulzzz guess I missed that one xD

PS: You're icon entertains me ♥

14. I don't think the secret has to do with hating on characters based on their gender. The characters are female, yeah, but the secret never mentions hating them because of their gender, or even hating any of the other SEED females, for that matter.
