OMG A JPOP IDOL SECRET <3 They always make my day. Hi C-ute fan! =D

(off topic but that's seriously one of my favorite Hello!Project PVs of late. Actually, the "Happy" in the PV is in my blog's banner!)

Anyways, while running around in fluffy dresses isn't necessarily he norm, there's lots of ways to incorporate cute things into your normal wardrobe. I will sometimes wear a cute pink headband I have, for example, when I want to feel cuter, and I wear a lot of long/swishy skirts. Not necessarily the same, but fun for feeling cuter. :)

(Anonymous) 2012-06-09 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly!

Unfortunately, going the whole wardrobe route isn't very convenient, but no reason not to add a little flair with cute little accessories and some garments here and there.

Sometimes a little subtlety goes a long way to set a style. :)

Yeah, or buy some of these "make your own keychain" sets from Japan and make some cute decorative keychains and straps to put on a bag/cell phone/etc...

Something like this:

or this:

It does heighten the cuteness factor ;)

Cute indeed, but I don't think they'd last long in my hands. They look kind of fragile... D:

They apparently become hard after two days of being left somewhere to dry and then won't be as fragile ;)

They don't really dress like that in Japan either, anon. Unless you want to go work in Harajuku.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-09 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Tokyo and the bigger cities in general are used to seeing people wearing weird things though. But yes, it's not like everyone in Japan is suddenly ok with this either.

Heads would definitely turn in 99% of Japan, where most women's clothing is neutrals: gray, beige, black, white, navy. But this might make an interesting question for the alreadypretty blog, how to add a little idol to your style without going overboard. Maybe start with accessories like cute shoes and hats.

Wear some cute dresses or something - it's not forbidden over here, you know. Also, people don't all dress like their pop idols over there any more than we do here. Just FYI. You're actually probably going to get a lot more leeway here under the idea of individuality and a more casual dress code in most situations.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-10 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously. As long as it doesn't go against your school/work's dress code, why not branch out and wear the things you like?

I have a... unique dressing style, and as long as my arms are covered and my heels aren't too high at work, then my boss doesn't give a shit about what I wear. In fact, one of the office women says she comes out at least once a day just to see what I'm wearing. XD

And OP, if you're not quite confident just yet in order to go all out with your clothes, then try a little thing at a time? Wear a cute headband or a frilly skirt. Wear shoes that have bows on them or an 'out there' hat.

Just try and remember to have confidence in the fact that YOU know you like the outfit you've chosen, which means it doesn't matter if someone else doesn't.

Wearing tulle under your dresses might be a bit much, but I've never heard that being happy and cute was a bad thing. There are a ton of ways to dress down dresses that might seem inappropriate on the sidewalk. Dresses that have enough netting underneath are meant to be twirled, I say!

This is the cutest secret ever.

[personal profile] inkedfeathers 2012-06-10 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Neku, is that you?

Regardless, I agree! Sometimes, I really want to dress like that too. ;^;

I just feel like it'd be fun and cute~ but, I can make do with simpler, less attention-grabbing clothes that also have lots of pink and lace-trims~ and ooh, heart-shaped buttons!

Cute things!

Same here! I've drifted to other idol groups, but Hello!Project (and Yajima Maimi!) have a very soft spot in my heart.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-10 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Me too, anon. It's the land of jeans and hoodies where I live, so any dresses at all (fluffy or not!) stand out terribly.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-10 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
You could always just lurk in the lolita comms, they have some pretty cool ideas about casual versions of the style.
