How is it creepy if the group of friends does that with each other? They seem to all be okay with it. I would find it creepy if the other friends had objected but it seems to be a mutually tolerated thing.

I think it really depends on how uncomfortable/comfortable everyone involved is with it, but as a general rule of thumb it's better to avoid doing that. Many people wouldn't like to be used as fictional characters in their friends' or strangers' stories, much less with romance/sex involved. That stuff can ruin friendships, you know?

OP here.

My friends and I do that with each other. We don't mind at all. We may bitch and moan about what we do to each other (because we can be pretty cruel in the silly fangirly ways), but we do it all in good fun.

Someone once put me in their fic, probably in hopes that I'd read and comment, but she never told me or asked me if it was OK before doing it. When I stumbled across it, I was a bit freaked out, and asked her to take me out of the fic. I felt bad since she seemed hurt by it, but she and I were not friends and I didn't know her very well. If she and I were actually friends, I wouldn't have minded.

So I do know the difference between putting someone in a fic and making them feel uncomfortable versus having my friends put me in their fics.
