That's heartbreaking, OP. There are songs that I can't listen to and places I can't go to without getting emotional for similar reasons, so I can relate. If it helps, I think your dog was lucky to be loved so much.

Totally understandable.

We lost our old dog recently, and I was doing ok yesterday until "Superman (It's Not Easy)" came up on my iPod. I think we all have those songs that will just hit us that way.

Since I watched a lot of Nostalgia Critic videos while taking care of my cat who died of cancer, I can't rewatch those videos without crying. So I completely understand you, OP.

*joins in giving internet hugs* I'd say this is both understandable and completely natural. Some things...we just hear or see at the wrong time and those things are forever stained by our emotions and experiences. I'm sorry if you were a big fan and it ruined the song for you, and I'm also sorry about your dog, though nothing words can say will make that better. And hey, there's no timeline on grieving; don't feel like you're doing it wrong by still being sad. You're only human.

We lost a dog about two months ago ourselves. She was my first pet. When I saw the Frankenweenie trailer in theaters, I sobbed. (And am tearing up again just thinking about it, CURSE THAT MOVIE.) It happens. :/ But I wish you the best OP. <3

I feel the same way about Kokoro by Oda Kazumasa. It came on in the car as I was driving home from work knowing my baby was being put down, and it made me bawl and still does every time I hear it.

My dog died like four years ago, and I'm still not over it, but I don't get as upset as I used to.

My dog has been gone ten years now and I still miss her every day. It gets easier though. It stops being a constant burden on your soul eventually and you can remember them without sobbing. Be strong. She was lucky to live her life with someone who loved her so much.
