I agree. When she was in the forefront the drama happened.

Jem remains the only soap opera I liked proper.

Elementary-school me agrees! I remember thinking that whenever Jem showed up, the parts of the show I liked slowed down in a way (oh jeez just hurry up and finish your concert already, you have to foil a bank robbery or find one of your missing orphans or something, woman!).

Yup, to me, the most interesting thing about Jem was Jerrica balancing her dual identities. The Jem persona itself just seemed so bland.
