It always makes me happy to see a GW secret pop up! But yeah, I do know what you mean... I miss it too!

I missed the fandom almost entirely. I thought the episodes being on crunchyroll would boost numbers, but I never saw that happen.

I've been missing the friends I made but the rest of the fandom, uhh. I was a silly fangirl back then and when I grew out of my seme/uke relenahate phase the other people who hadn't grown up at the same rate got on my nerves so fierce I left.

Though recently I rewatched the whole show and while I still love the characters, some of the scenes and the politicking were so cheesy and so heavy on the symbolism they just became kind of absurd. I enjoyed it anyway, mind, because I love to mock what I love! but I think a huge part of the insane popularity GW enjoyed back in the day was due to what the fandom could do with it, more than the show itself.

I would totally watch a new season, though, maybe one about what the heck Heero did post-EW, wandering the world?, but that new sequel manga full of bullcrap I refuse to acknowledge. It reads like a horrible next gen selfinsert fanfic, filling holes that didn't need filled with illogism and making all the new characters unimaginative xerox copies of the Gboys, only now Quatre is a girl and Trowa's last name is Phobos instead of Barton and his bangs curl sliiiightly at the end. Duo Maxwell's name they didn't even change, he just has a fur collar instead of a priestly one wooohoo. :/ ... sorry, I have ~feelings~ about that horrid thing. I had such hopes that it would revive the fandom some but... waugh.

Yeah, I get some joy out of the manga (certain characters turned out seriously awesome in their mature age and confirmation about some canon hints were great) but the xerox-copy offspring has completely weirded me out. Either tell a new story about a new generation or tell a new story about the original characters, don't clone or cryo-freeze (seriously what the hell) the originals so you can tell the exact same story over again, that's stupid. I was so ridiculously happy at first when I heard GW was being expanded and now I'm like vaguely embarrassed by this foolishness.

Hahaha, the show and it's flip-flopping of factions and such WAS really heavy-handed and cheesy, but I love it so much.

And yeah. On subsequent rewatches, all of my relena!hate died and she's even on my radar now. But I still find her rather annoying from the beginning to the middle of the series and I'm more neutral on her from there to the end. LOVE her in EW though. She finally GOT why they were needed and why they weren't now.

I ended up REALLY loving Sally Po and Lady Une. They are my favorites, with Dorothy coming in third.

As for the fandom side of things....I just, for the LIFE OF ME, cannot get the boner on for 1x2. I used to love that pair, but I don't anymore. Heero barely TOLERATED Duo most of the time and was just annoyed by him otherwise. Hell, the only two pilots he really opened up to were Quatre and Trowa. Which I'm very much liking. Duo did as well with Quatre, but he and Heero...I don't get it these days.

Also, also, I am so disappointed that there isn't any kind of Sally/Heero floating around. She was so focused on him in the show, way more so than Wufei, that...I just want some Sally/Heero stuff, be it romantic, fluff, friendship, what have you. :C

But I can't write for shit and I'm stuck on coming up with sketch ideas. >_>

There are some prequel stuff to Frozen Teardrop that's coming out as well, set right after EW that looks interesting and is focused on the ORIGINAL characters. Those I'm gonna read.

I may read Frozen Teardrop as well, but my hopes on it aren't very high.

However, I SOOOOOOO wish they'd take the new manga adaptation and make it into a rebooted, newer, cleaner looking anime series (even though i adore the original). The Glory of the Defeated is AMAZEBALLS and it uses so much of the info that wasn't able to make it into the show originally and GAH. I love it~!!!

Gundam Wing was, and is, the only Gundam series that I've ever been interested it and holds some strange appeal to me. I just happened to get caught up when it was on Toonami and for some reason I found it fascinating. I just recently went on a hunt for my old favorite fic from the fandom....some do not hold up the test of time.

I had to google that to see if you were just making shit up - but nope! That actually exists. lol GW really was the anomaly. The Gundam series isn't really my type of anime, there was just something about GW in particular that grabbed me.

but it's probably the fandom. I rewatched some of the series last year and it has not aged very unlike some of its predecessors. I caught the last year or so when the fandom was still pretty active. You guys were a blast.

Gundam Wing! I've been slowly rewatching this series over the course of the past couple months. I'd nearly forgotten how much I like the characters, and now I'm left sadly craving good fic, but unwilling to wade through the massive levels of unfortunate preteen fantasy that (seem to) make up most of what's out there.

Well, the resurgence of GW in Japan lately has me getting back into the show at least and reading the new stuff.

I ended up rewatching the show/movie twice in one week a few weeks back. >_>

I love it so much~!

I also miss the fandom from back then. :C All those sites on the Anime Web Turn Pike which are mostly dead now...
