LOL it reminds me of HP fandom before we knew Blaise Zabini was a girl, along with the mentions of Arabella Figg (preOotP) and Dorcas Meadows, two girls who had steaming hot affairs with the Marauders and ran around with Lily Evans, forming their OWN group of 'mauraders' who were actually MUCH COOLER AND WAY MORE CLEVER than the actual Marauders.

LOL yes to all of this (except for the comment above mentioning that Blaise is actually a black boy in canon, not a Sue-ish girl). I laughed so much at all the people who gussied up Arabella Figg before the 5th book, only to find she's actually an old squib who smells like cat pee.

LOL what cracks me up are the HP Shipping Confessions on Tumblr being all butthurt because "OMG I'm NOT self-inserting as Dorcas, I swear!"

Yeah it's like, admit that you're writing an OC, dude. And I say that as someone who's written fic about similarly obscure characters like the Greengrasses- THEY ARE OCS WITH CANON NAMES. THEM'S THE BRAKES.

Dorcas Meadows was a one-off mention character that was instantly seized upon as a character to self-insert with in order to shag & het-up Sirius Black and Remus Lupin.

Oh man, I feel you. When I first got into HP fandom proper, every damn day I found a new obscure ass character that I'd never heard of. Dorcas Meadows, btw, is a one line mention in OotP, I think? One of the dead members of the Order of the Phoenix.
