I should have rephrased, Odin is more of an idiot in my eyes. I think I never got over that last scene were he was shocked that Loki let go after he told him he could've never been a good king.

And not telling Loki about his heritage was a bit of a stupid idea as well.

I'm not generally disliking the character, he had his moments but he's supposed to be a great king and he didn't seem all that great a king to me.

I've only seen the movie once on an airplane in the last hours of a 14 hour flight with a few days without much sleep, my judgement may be impaired by that.

I'm guessing he never told Loki about his heritage because he figured that he would react like...well, the way he did.

Really? You think his lying had no impact on Loki's reaction? Knowing it and being raised knowing it may have been challenging for him at times but a helluva lot better than suddenly finding out and all of a sudden having an explanation (justified or not) for every slightly negative interaction with your father. I'm sure the feelings of betrayal and manipulation wouldn't have had anywhere near as much ground if Loki had been raised knowing where he came from.

Agreed completely.

Probably, but he knew the chance was there that Loki would find out anyway and finding something like that out by accident isn't fun. Which is kinda my point. A lot of Odin's actions are understandable but they still don't seem to be the actions of someone who is supposed to be a good king.

"I think I never got over that last scene were he was shocked that Loki let go after he told him he could've never been a good king."

I always got the impression Odin was telling Loki that committing genocide was a bad idea. Loki, of course, just took it as a rejecting rather than an admonishment ('cause of the whole genocide, thing) because he's overly dramatic like that.

Loki was actually my favorite character in Thor but I'm tired of the woobification of Loki combined with the vilification of everybody else. Mistakes were made all around, but in the end, Loki's decisions were his own.

I agree, whatever happened or didn't happen to Loki that's no excuse to kill people etc.

As I said, I don't remember the movie all that cleary, I can only speak about the impression I had when watching it and I couldn't really understand why Odin was so shocked that Loki let go. Sure, what he did was wrong but if you want someone to not let go of the stick he's holding onto you should probably not tell them that yo think he could never suceed.

I think it's utterly sad that you're going so deep into this solely based on the movie(s) that was/were mostly pure shit - at least what comes to the characters. How can you say anything about Loki when you (obviously) haven't read any of the comics? Two movies and you all think you're Jesus. Holy fuck.

I never claimed to know anything more about Loki than what we know from the movies.

What I find utterly sad is that you think that just because you've read the comics you're somehow better than people who haven't. Just fyi, I have started reading the comics, no Loki in them so far but since he's not one of my favorite characters I don't focus on him.

Also seriously, movieverse =/= comicverse =/= animated series verse. Movie!Loki is not the same as Comic!Loki.

THIS.

Hahaha. You're the reason I'll most likely never get into the comics.

The movies are their OWN universe, asswad. And cashay has as much right to complain about how said characters react/acted/etc, IN THEIR MOVIES, as they want.

And I agree with them. Even if I loved Odin. And am neutral about Loki.

Fuck off~
