(Anonymous) 2012-06-11 01:50 am (UTC)(link)otherwise, i guess that the cas/meg kissing scene came out of fucking nowhere, and i say this as someone who ships it now.
otherwise yeah i agree with your comment, that's annoying as fuck. and even if you find het sex uncomfortable that's... not a good reason to hate a female character anyway wtf.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-11 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)Hi, I'm a girl, a slasher, and I dislike most het (not in a "you can't like this" way, but in a "I personally am not going to enjoy this" way). I also am exclusively gay in real life. I've had a lot of pressure on me when I was younger to be in a heterosexual relationship, and it's difficult for me to relate to characters I like actually wanting that. Not only that, but the heterosexual relationships on TV seem closer to how I tried to be straight to me than what my straight friends are doing. Actual straight people I know? Have different gender preferences than me, but are mostly doing the same thing as me re: pairing up with somebody they're attracted to and have fun with. TV straight people? Shoehorning characters into what girls do and what boys do, and often using "hey he's a boy she's a girl and they spend a lot of time together" as an excuse to pair them up.
And don't get me started on the fact that those women aren't ever going to be one of the most important people on a show like Supernatural, or even one of the most important people to the dude they're fucking. A man and a woman who are in a relationship going on adventures together? I could get into that, if both were interesting characters. Dudely adventures with some bonus heterosexuality? The women aren't there to be characters, they're there to be part of the dudely adventures. "These guys are so important to each other BUT LOOK A WOMAN THEY'RE NOT GAY OR ANYTHING". Why would you expect women, straight or not, to celebrate being dudely adventure props?
Do I hate vaginas or women? No. Vaginas and women are awesome, and I'll feel just as disengaged if a female character I relate to is suddenly sucked into an unnecessary boyfriend plot. I get the feeling that some people want to believe slashers hate women, no matter what they actually do.
