You're probably right, but for me FS is enjoyable for the secrets about fandoms that I'm not in or following, rather than the comments. So if 90% of the secrets are fake what is the even the point? It's like going to a news community and half the posts are troll news. Which has happened.

I... really don't know if you can look at it that way.

It's like the anon in reply to unicorns said, if you look at the comments, even if a lot of the secrets MIGHT be fake, you're going to have people for whom the issues ARE real. In order for the secrets to hit people or to affect them, they're going to have to touch on real issues. Maybe whatever the troll is saying is something they don't believe in, but if they want to be effective at trolling, they're going to have to actually find something that is true for a lot of people and get them that way. If they're looking for real reactions, they'll need to touch on real issues.

Disclaimer here: I'm not OP, but I did try making troll secrets once, back when FS was still on LJ. Haven't in a while, though. But when I did, I realized very quickly that they might as well have BEEN real. Obviously fake or false secrets wouldn't do a thing, people wouldn't really care about them.

You can't tell what in the post is real or fake to the OP. That doesn't stop what the secret is saying from being real or false, or the issues that the secrets are talking about, especially in fandom.
