This is a good comment. It articulates how a lot of people feel about genfic, I think. I love horror myself, but I also think one of the key draws to horror is to see how people react and form relationships or friendships, and labeling a horror story with "NO NOPE NO ROMANCE HERE EVER" means I probably won't get my relationship in times of hardship fix. I love the friendship too, but with only friendship...it has to be a really good story.

Also, in a more general sense: I tend to get attached to certain characters, and I can almost never guess how a genfic will treat them. A fic where they're part of the main endgame pairing is usually a pretty good indicator of that character not getting excessively bashed.

I guess what I'm saying, OP, is that genfic doesn't have enough labels for me. :)
