(Commenting to you rather than on the main secret because this is a minority opinion in the thread and I don't mean to pick on anyone who disagrees. There's room for everyone!)

Pretty much this. Maybe it's just my weird brain, but there's only so much "aww, they're adorable together" I can take before I'm bored.

I think some of this is just bad writing, but some of it is just that without conflict, there's really no story. There's just "isn't that cute?"

And I love cute, but cute alone doesn't keep me shipping a pair. It just gives me a few smiles now and again.

As far as liking the really conflict-prone or violent or kismesis-type ships, I think it's just a personality thing. Some people love that (I'm one) and some people find it squicky. That just is what it is.
