Because in real life when you are around someone long enough, no matter how much you like/love them you will squabble over something eventually. It's not like they're having full blown rage fests where they rip each other a new one every time.

The real test of a relationship is if you can get through the conflicts no matter how big or small, not how well you can avoid them.

Plus when you see it from an outsiders perspective, lover's spats are actually kind of funny.
