When using an example like Ron and Hermoine, OP, you need to think about the characters and the setting they've been placed. These people were children, up until the very last movie, where they were battling for not only their lives but the lives of everyone around them. When you're a kid/teenager, you're still trying to find out who you are. You still act childish and immature. Your emotions are effected by your hormones. Add in a conflict that most adults would run crying from and a couple of stubborn characters and you're gonna have fighting. Zoey and Wash are adults. Not to say that everything listed above can't effect adults as well, but they are usually much much much more prevalent in adolescents. I'm not trying to justify fighting, and you can like what you like, but sometimes I feel like the situation would be severely unrealistic when it comes to some plots if the couples DIDN'T fight.
