See, some pairings make the constantly-bickering dynamic work. Honestly, I ship a couple whose canon interactions are based on "your mom nation" jokes and retaliatory death threats, so it drives me bonkers that most shipfic for them tends to ignore that dynamic completely.

But some pairings don't, and forcing that dynamic tends to leave a sour taste in my mouth, too.

In conclusion, Your Mileage May Vary (mine certainly does).
