sorry for the misspell, it's still pretty early morning in my timezone.

I somehow feel like you draw no difference between discussing and lecturing.
Look, if it's fun for you, fine, but personally, I'm just bored of discussing only movies with people who bat their eyelashes blankly at everything that exceeds movie-canon. Especially when the later one is expanding constantly, with all the spoilers/speculations accompanying the process.

No, I have no interest in lecturing anyone. What I mean is, for example "Hey so I ship Clint/Natasha!" "Really? That was canon for awhile in the comics too!" "Really? Awesome, when did that happen?" -insert rest of the conversation here-

There are movie fans that want to know more about the source material too. And as you say, the movie-verse is growing all the time. Sure some people are happy to watch the movies and go on about their day. I don't want to talk at someone, I want to talk with someone and if answering their questions on something that might not have made full sense to them as movie fans can start that, what's the problem?

Hell, if I get those blank stares I'll ask what they missed. If they don't want to know, fine. If they do, hey! Conversation. It's no different than being a dinner party or something and being interested in say, cars. Well, Bob over there is a mechanic. You and Bob hit it off talking about cars. He might correct you on something, sure, but you can ask him about something else, etc etc etc.
