Well why the hell not? Their lives* are essentially perfect, no matter how much any of them moan about wanting to be human.

*In the books that is - I know there are epic treatises to be written about why their lives aren't perfect but let's be honest; we all know that Stephenie Meyer never thought that far into things.

Let's see. Richer than oil tycoons, forever young, forever beautiful, immortal, superhuman speed and strength, some other little nifty superpowers... who wouldn't want that?

I'd get so bored tho =/

Unless, of course, I became a forever-philanthropist like Carlisle...I could see doing that for a while. But even then I might eventually get bored and feel like it's all pointless.

Eternal high-school, though... I mean, even with the popularity/untouchability, you'd think they'd try pretend-community-college at least for more free time. There's gotta be at least one time one of them couldn't go out because they had to do this stupid group project that'll take forever and they got stuck with either that one classmate who does nothing but screw around their whole library time OR the one who's really really into it and keeps giving them grief for not helping create a to-scale diorama of a Civil War battle and anyway it's accounted wrong in all the major public sources but it's not like you can complain about that, shut up I know we're moving next year guys but I still don't want to fail stupid mortal Mr. Jergen's class because pride and also you'll make fun of me forever, this sucks.

Or something.

how does anyone on this planet get so bored that they don't have anything better to do than write an epic treatise about twilight...
djsongbird: (Default)

[personal profile] djsongbird 2012-06-29 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't understand this either, but there are a lot of people who genuinely like the books. O.O I couldn't even START the second one, myself.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-12 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I'm quite the opposite about this. To me it would suck to be a Meyerpire if only for one thing: You can't sleep. I don't think I could be happy if I lost the ability to dream... Also, it would suck to think a piece of nice juicy steak or chocolate cake tastes like dirt. Oh, and only being able to die by a very painful death of having your limbs torn off and burned in fire doesn't sound too appealing either.

Minus the imprinting thing, I'd rather be a werewolf in the Twilight universe.
hornpile: (hs: yeah well you are a fuckass)

[personal profile] hornpile 2012-06-12 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
seriously, I just can't deal with the not sleeping thing. You'd think they'd at least be able to sleep, even if they didn't need to. Unless they were able to sleep in the books? I don't know, just the thought of spending every moment of your life conscious, while also being immortal, sounds seriously hellish. You could probably get a lot done, but man.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-06-13 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
I feel like the non-sleeping thing really gave Edward a depth that Stephanie Meyer may not have intended.

[identity profile] broadwaybabe11.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Agree. I'm a mortal (obviously) and I seriously don't know how Id be able to survive without sleeping, even if I didn't need it. It gives me a rest and a break from the real world, an escape for a few hours. After some of my worst days, I just went home and slept.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-12 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I was just thinking "Sure, why not?" to the secret until I read this comment. I hate dreaming, but I just loving crawling into bed and falling asleep. I couldn't give that up!

Haha, (haven't read Twilight but) this is me. Take away my sleeping and eating and I might as well be dead. That's a big chunk of my happiness right there.
elialshadowpine: (Default)

[personal profile] elialshadowpine 2012-06-13 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that would just be horrifying. D: I think most every other vampire book I've read has the vampires sleeping at least sometimes.
kallanda_lee: (Mystique Mirror)

[personal profile] kallanda_lee 2012-06-13 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'd dig being a vampire. The whole staying young/immortality thing and going to college over and over again...yeah, I'd dig that. Also, this variety gets to not burn in the sun...which is a bonus.

I'm just not particularly sure I'd want t be part of the Cullen clan and their little drama.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-13 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
why is this a secret? who wouldn't want to be one of them? never ending youth and beauty, immortality, amazing power, superhuman skills like reading people's minds or seeing the future, and on top of that they have a wonderful family full of people who love each other so much they would die for each other.

again, why is this a secret?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-13 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
would you really want to go to high school over and over and over and over again?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-13 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
you know, actually, i think it would be quite fun. the worst part about high school for me was the lack of perspective. otherwise it would have been a damn circus full of non-stop entertainment.

then again, doing it, like, a thousand times would be a bit much.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-13 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
you'd never eat delicious food things ever ever again without feeling nauseous
maiira: (Default)

[personal profile] maiira 2012-06-13 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Wasn't that kind of the point? They're perfect people.

Hell, I wouldn't mind some of what they've got. I sure as shit wouldn't keep going to high school, though.

Question

[personal profile] zogblaster 2012-06-13 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't read the books or seen the films, but I read the fanric "Luminosity". In Luminosity, I thought it was really interesting the way the Cullens matched Mormon ideals of family life, and really reflected the basic idea of being 'sealed' for all eternity. Is it as clear in the actual books?

Re: Question

(Anonymous) 2012-06-13 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't read the books either but I read a essay on how Twilight is basically a love letter to Joeseph Smith and Mormon ideals. I can't remember where I read it though.

Yes, I think that was the point, when there was one.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-13 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I can see why this is a secret. Welp, I'm gonna pour myself a shot for you, OP.
