I can agree with OP to a certain extent - when he was very first introduced, as a gallant vamp who protected Tara when those louts in the parking lot were badmouthing her and Eggs, he seemed like a relatively good guy, by Bon Temps standards. Then they slept together, and she was touched that he called her beautiful, and seemed like FINALLY something good was happening to Tara.

Then, of course, he turned out to be a creepy psychopath who needed murdering. BUT, up until that was revealed, I can see where OP was coming from.

I admit that my happy ending was his head getting blown up. He gave me a creepy vibe from the start.

Yeah, me too. He was a CreepyMcCreepyerson rapey vamp. I was thrilled when he went squish. He was a great character, but wow. Creepy.

Yeah, he was well written and him abusing Tara was very dark (I really wish she got her happy ending, damn!) but um, nope, Jason blasting his brains out was the best.

It *was* really dark, and the way the show injected humor into those scenes made them that much more horrific IMHO.

I'm not a huge True Blood fan, but didn't he kidnap and rape her? The ending where he died (again) seems pretty happy to me.

As fucked up as Franklin was, he was a really entertaining villain. I wish he would've stuck around longer. Also, much love for James Frain.

A happy ending for an abusive relationship (and one that isn't just veiled abusive like Bill/Sookie)...yeah I can see that totally happening.

I'm glad they didn't go that way. Even Sigmund Freud himself conducting the couple's therapy couldn't have made that work.

I've shipped some shady things in my life but I never saw anything in that relationship that made a happy ending desirable. It wasn't even a relationship. He had to glamour her to get in her pants, and when he wasn't sexxing her up, he was terrorizing her - tying her to a toilet all day and night, threatening to either bite her, beat her, or kill anyone he thought she as fucking. She was visibly terrified of him and his unstable mood swings. As funny as I found some things about him - the texting, the "don't say that, the last time a woman said that, everything went black and I woke up with body parts", it was better for Tara that he was snuffed out.

It's a testament to Tara's strength that she managed to rein in her terror enough to play that creep like she did.

It makes what happened to her kind of horrifying.

Personally, I thought the ending they got was pretty damn perfect. Awesome female character escapes from her rapist/abuser, actually gets to process the sh!t he put her through and ultimately, he meets the true death. That's a happy ending in my book.
