This. Not "public" by formal definition but maybe it feels like that to them.

I like to go around in shorts and a sports bra when it's hot, but my mom will always say it's "inappropriate" and make me put on a shirt. When I'm in the house. With just her and my sister. I find it slightly annoying (like...why would she care?) but...yeah. Obviously some are more sensitive to it than others, and I need to be sensitive to that in turn. ot, but...it's also a double standard because she doesn't care if my brother walks around with no top at all. Bullocks, I say. And sports bras don't expose very much at all compared to bikinis which she lets us wear in the pool. idgi

Anyway having me or a housemate walking around in a sheet is nbd to me, because you'd be pretty damn well covered. But I can definitely see where some people would have a hard time being completely comfortable with that, even among housemates.

Yeah I never understood the, "OMG YOU'RE ONLY IN UNDERWEAR!!" mentality when a LOT of bathing suits cover a hell of a lot less than some undergarments.

So glad my parents never had that, "Omg you're only wearing bra and panties/pants in the house, put clothes on!" hang up.

The other guy was arrested after a lady and her son walked through his yard and happened to see him pass a window (which I have to wonder, what were they doing in that guy's yard?)

Springfield, Virginia. The story was developed on a lot and it changed in level of detail over time, but none of it involved the guy touching himself in front of a bus stop. At first, it was said that they saw him through a window while he went to make coffee in his kitchen. Later, the story changed and the woman apparently saw him at his carport door.

Which is why the "walkin' 'round sheet" has been officially pinned over the big picture window in my BF's kitchen. *lol* Now the indoor nudity happens with nary a care. :D And fun was had by all.

Mind your housemates. They have a right to be comfortable in their home as well. And for a lot of people seeing someone they aren't sleeping with ignoring basic modesty rules does not make for a comfortable homelife.

If you are living alone, that's not public. Flouce around naked for all you want. Just don't flash the neighbors.

I... do I have to tell you? Dude, people don't want to worry about being flashed if your hand slips or you squirm in your chair the wrong way. Just put on some underwear at least. There's lots of light, breezy, cool clothing options that take all of a second to toss on and are much less likely to make you trip and spontaneously give a peep show.

At least talk to the other people who live with you and make sure they are okay with this style option.

I think it's just one of those silly-but-important social rules. It would be entirely possible to remain decently covered in just a bedsheet, but a sheet is not considered proper clothing. Similar to how you can go to a public pool in a bikini but not a bra-and-panty set, or how I have sundresses that cover less less than an XXL tshirt, but if I were to go out in just the tshirt, I'd be considered only half-dressed.

I was thinking about your examples and wondering what the lines between them are. Here's my guesses:

-Sheets can slip free and/or be very light and see-though
-Bras and panties arent designed to be wet; most bikini tops are very padded so you can't see any nipples... but I suppose some bras are too. The patterns usually seem darker and it doesn't cling and show the same was as a bikini and maybe something about the patterns and one being more private and the other being more decorative?
-A shirt that goes down to your knees is also really wide so if you move wrong/weird it could floof up a lot easier while most dressed are more fitted. They do floof too though.

It's weird; it sounds silly logically but there's another part of me that goes "ell yeah they're totally different!" and I just wanted to see if I could come up with reasons why.
