I saw where someone on TWOP was bitching about how ugly she was in her film reel, with one specific complaint being the deep creases in her lips that chapstick couldn't cure.

People are so unnecessarily angry. I get the irritation—way too much Megan this season, not enough Joan/Lane interactions for my taste—but it's brutal out there, and I hope Jessica Pare ignores it.

I agree. I find Megan pretty boring but people has been very cruel to JP.

I seriously cannot handle the TWOP boards for this show anymore. Their hate for Jessica Pare is absolutely ridiculous. I saw a post this morning criticizing the way she walks, like her feet move before the rest of her body(??)....I don't know WTF they were talking about, but it seemed like they were finding the most petty, miniscule flaw they could find with their Hater Microscopes and blowing it up 500x.

TWOP's hatefest for her has been ridiculous. They talk about her like she's some sort of hideous shambling she-beast.

I love Megan and think she is a great addition to the show. Certainly I think screen time was tipped to much in her favor but that's a pacing/writer's flaw.

I really don't understand the hate.

Yeah, I cannot stand that people are hating on Megan for all the screen time she's getting. I mean, I love the two characters that have probably gotten shafted the most (Betty and Peggy) too. But wrt Betty, a lot of her lessened screen time was due to January Jones pregnancy.

But also, I think the writers don't know what to do with Betty and Peggy anymore. They've both been kind of stalling as characters for a while and I think the writers were excited to get a new character to write for. If it wasn't Megan, another character like Ginsberg or a new copywriter or whoever might have been the one to get the focus, you know?

It's not that I hate her, it's that the writers tried to make me care so fucking much about her.

The haters haven't made me love her, but I can't believe how much time I spend defending her. Not even defending her, just disagreeing with crazy. On TWOP it's now also connected with hate of MW. It's no longer the stuff going on on the show, it's just this big conspiracy of MW putting down fans and being in love with JP.

^That. I don't think I ever even got a chance to form an independent opinion about her thanks to time spent on the IMDb forums. I've never done more than try to talk people down from their crazy about her, yet apparently that's treating her as Saint Megan (and compared to the volume of posts ridiculing her appearance, shaming her for being pretty, and outright making stuff up about her on the most specious of evidence, I guess it kinda is).

I could never be a Megan stan, because her character has been so badly developed, but I think the hate is fucking ridiculous. There's so many characters on MM that are completely awful, and you're bitching about this bland one? And the people complaining about the actress specifically are really disgusting. From the one interview I've read with her, I don't think I'd like her personally, but I generally don't base a whole opinion on a person from one interview.

I also agree with the person above who said that the last episode of the season was a good one for her- I actually called my dad to say OMG THE WRITERS LET MEGAN LOOK BAD TONIGHT, IT ALMOST MADE ME LIKE HER. (I have a...strange way of watching Mad Men)

Her character was beautifully developed. All the characters are. The writing is some of the strongest on television.

I love Megan. Hooray for complex, believable female characters! And I love how happy she makes/made Don, at least for a time. "Lovely Megan, I've gone out for lightbulbs. When I get back, I'll see you better." <3

She's a very smart, creative, emotional, ambitious young woman. She was good at advertising. I think she's also beautiful, although that doesn't impact on how I see her as a character.

And the actress who plays her is wonderful. She gives the character so much depth and nuance.
