False OP. Ripper!Stephan would *never* do that. (Or Just!Vamped!Stephan who pretty much forced Damon to become a vampire with him when Damon didn't want that.)

I believe you meant to put 'Damon will always put Elena AND Stephan first, he'll just be an asshole about it publically sometimes'.

ripper stefan saved damon's life in 3x02 though, hell that was our first clue that he was still capable of being saved. and yeah he made damon turn against his will, but that's more a symptom of his weirdly all-consuming selfish love for his brother--that he couldn't bear to have eternity without him--than a mark against it.
