I know that feel. When I was little and played Doctor Who I always wanted to be The Doctor not the companion. Usually I got my way!

I kinda always imagine myself in superhero films as a character on equal footing with the guys, getting to do all the same stuff as them...I didn't identify with being the love interest like I was "meant" to. At least there are a few female characters who get to do that now. Not that there's anything wrong with liking the love interest of course.
