A) Jaime has WAY more interesting and sympathetic motivations. Cercsei too, though I find Jaime more sympathetic.

B) And that is because Joffrey is presented as an actual sadistic psychopath.

Jaime pushing a kid out of a window is clearly Very Not Good. But when it comes to fictional characters what I care about is the why, not the what, and Jaime's why is interesting. Joffrey's is "because evil." Which makes him a great, very hate-able villain, don't get me wrong, but that's very different than what Jaime is in my mind.

(Cersei is in between for me. I feel bad for her, but I also think she went off the deep end around book 4).

Yeah, for most of Cersei's chapters I'm just like "oh my god you're fucking psycho but I also kind of want to give you a hug."
