This makes me sorta glad I don't have a younger sibling. In a way it must be cool to have a family member you share interests with because you're less likely to not be able to find a topic of discussion, and then there's the bonding that can take place with that sort of thing. But...to think of them possibly reading graphic fanfic, looking at pornographic fanart and the like... lets just say your reaction is understandable.

It's sort of like regular porn; plenty of people look at it (family included), but you don't want to know that for certain.

Yes, this! I really would feel uncomfortable discussing fandom with my sister (I don't know if she's even in fandom, but if she were), especially because my own reading tastes were so vanilla until I was 17, and she's younger than that. *shudder* If I knew she were reading porn or RPF or something, I'd never look at her the same way again. XD

I think when you grow up with someone it's easy to see them as innocent whether they are or not, and to want them to keep that innocence. There's nothing wrong with growing up and there's nothing wrong with sex but it can be hard to get yourself into a mind-set of actually remembering these things when it's a sibling. For some people it's just human nature to want to stay ignorant about these things.

My brother has kids. While he's obviously had sex, in my mind: HE HAS NEVER HAD SEX. He is not a sexual being! While there is nothing wrong with sex whatsoever it can be uncomfortable to think of a family member being interested in it or knowing they engage in it.

*shrugs*

If it doesn't bother other people, that's wonderful! (Less awkwardness in life? Huzzah!) But that isn't an option for everyone.

Idk, there's a longstanding cultural history of related men bonding over inherently pornographic activities eg. going to strip clubs. I think there's a double standard lurking in there.

Plenty of people are cool with that sort of behavior (regardless of gender), and I imagine plenty aren't. Again, good for them!

Not sure what you mean about double standards in regards to my comment though.
