And yeah, there's often some overlap. People aren't honest with each other about everything, and sometimes people will say something more socially acceptable than what they're really feeling if it means they can share their love for the character at all. I've downgraded "she is so hot I'm gonna die oh my god I would do everything to her" to "what a fascinating antagonist, her situation is really interesting!" and "I wish I could cheer him up with blowjobs" to "I want to give him a hug and make him breakfast!". With an added bonus of unsaid "I wanna be them" for both.
Point is, you don't know what your friends are actually feeling. Maybe some of them like fantasizing about being these characters too, or like them both ways. If they're not in fandom and you are, you have the benefit of knowing that these feels are normal and okay, while they might not. You could have a theater full of, I don't know, girls that want to be Thor or something. And if none of them admit it, all of them come out thinking they're the only one and all the others are just in it for the sexy.
Maybe you feel okay going against the grain and expressing "unfeminine" opinions or whatever, but some people have an upbringing that makes them less comfortable doing that publicly, and some people just have different interests than you, and neither makes them a monolith of "those other girls". Every girl who's ever roleplayed a male character has on some level felt the way you do, and there are quite a few of those.
