Am going to stay out of the secret itself...but you know what? She looks absolutely gorgeous here. A bit...empty, sure - but still gorgeous!

[identity profile] galerian-ash.livejournal.com 2012-06-14 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I think this is one of the worst pictures of her -- her eyes are totally dead, the open mouth makes me wanna yell "breathe through your damn nose", and that one strand of hair that's hanging all ~*~artfully~*~ in front of her eye is... *grimaces* (Not trying to start an argument or anything, please don't get me wrong! I just think it's really interesting that people have such different ideas of what constitutes as attractive.)

Icon love, BTW! That scene always makes me laugh XD

Gonna be totally honest and admit I could probably count the number of pictures I've seen of Kristen Stewart (outside of Twilight, anyway) using both hands, but I've heard a frankly alarming amount of insults about her looks, and honestly...she's not unattractive. The picture itself is all kinds of ridiculous for reasons you've already explained, but imo she does look conventionally pretty.

Thanks. :)

Yeah, me neither -- don't think I've ever even seen a movie with her (I do wanna watch The Runaways someday, though!). And I agree with you; she's definitely not ugly! Not my personal idea of attractive, sure, but the mockery of her looks is just silly... very much the "cool" thing to do.

I haven't either so it wouldn't be right for me to comment on her acting skills, but as far as looks go...she's not bad. She's not my type either, but I have no problem saying she looks good. *shrugs* You know people on the internet though...

I just watched "The Runaways" two days ago, and holy SHIT it is amazing. I love it. And I liked "Snow White and the Huntsman". It just seems like people have made up their mind about her based on "Twilight" (let's be real, that is NOT good source material, but if someone offered me a bajillion bucks to do a shitty movie, I'd take it), the fact she "never smiles" (which ... what? No, I've seen a ton of pictures of her smiling), and the fact she's "awkward" (cause the rest of us aren't, right? GMAFB).

Don't get me wrong, "Twilight" is terrible, but Kristen Stewart does not deserve all the hate she gets.

I think this girl I knew put it best:

"It's not that she isn't pretty. She is. But she's pretty in this vague, generic way that you'd see dozens of times at the mall. That wouldn't be bad except they put her in a movie in which she is supposed to be prettier than Charlize Theron. I'm sorry, but in what universe is Kristen Stewart prettier than Charlize Theron?"

elaminator: (Uncharted: Nate/Elena - Missed you)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-06-15 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, I thought in the movie her being 'fairer' than Charlize was more metaphorical than anything? That it was what was 'inside' that counted? Granted, I haven't seen the movie yet, but that's what I took away from the trailer/premise.

From a purely physical standpoint though, very few people in the world are as good looking as Charlize Theron. At least imo, so...honestly I'm not sure they could have found someone physically more attractive.
Edited 2012-06-15 00:39 (UTC)

(Anonymous) 2012-06-15 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
well, to each their own obviously, i think charlize theron is one of the most bland looking people alive. i would never in a million years buy that she is 'fairest in the land'. any land. granted, i feel similarly about kristen stewart, though i do think she's prettier than theron.
elaminator: (Avengers: Natasha)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-06-15 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
That's okay too, though I don't agree. We're all entitled to our opinions!

(Anonymous) 2012-06-15 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I can't speak specifically for the movie - but going by what it's based on [and since it's kinda a big plot point, I assume it's still there], it's not *just* about what's on the inside - there's also a pretty big thing about Snow White growing into her beauty while the Queen gets older. Point in fact, that's kinda what drives her over the edge.

As for finding someone as physically attractive...maybe, maybe not. But they *could* have found someone who is as generically attractive KS.
elaminator: (X-Men: Erik/Charles - No my friend)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-06-15 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Since age hasn't lessened Charlize's looks in the least (again, imo), that's a bit ironic. Don't really understand why age would be that big a factor since she's still very physically attractive (both Charlize and the Queen from the Disney version, which is the one I know) but...it isn't my story.

I think they could've found someone more attractive than her as well, but they apparently didn't want someone else, so...it is what it is, even if it doesn't make sense to everyone.

Speaking as one of the few people (apparently) who actually HAS seen the movie - the whole 'fairest in the land' thing is absolutely based on an interior rather than exterior beauty. While that may not be the overtones of the original fairy tale, I think it's safe to say that in Snow White and the Huntsman, the purity of her heart is really what makes her 'fairer'. (And even then - SPOILERS... kind of... -, her purity isn't actually a threat to the queen's beauty, but rather a threat to her power. Essentially it's more the idea of lawful good being the only thing capable of defeating evil as opposed to pure beauty versus aging beauty.)

[personal profile] unicornherds 2012-06-14 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. I mean, her hair is gorgeous and her make-up is awesome, but the dead eyes, overall emptiness, and half open mouth kind of ruin it for me. She kind of looks like she's in the middle of a trance or a absence seizure or something.
elaminator: (Dark Knight Rises: Catwoman)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-06-14 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree that the way the picture is set up is ridiculous and doesn't do much for her, but just looking at her features and how lovely her hair and make-up are...she's extremely pretty to me. This is coming from somehow who has no interest in her.

Totally get what you're saying though. The...expression (or lack thereof) put me off at first too, but for all I hear about how gross she is...I don't see it.

I have a huge crush on her, acting aside(since I've never actually watched her act), because her personality is awesome and she's pretty damn gorgeous, imho.

and I love how she dresses

I know very little about her, but what I have seen in the few interviews of hers I've watched is that she looks quite socially awkward. And I'm not saying that as an insult because frankly so am I, and Chris Evans (a man whom I have a gargantuan crush on myself) is too. And honestly, one of the things I like about Evans is that he's kinda shy, and doesn't always know what to say; that makes him seem more human and relatable and appeals to me. So...though I don't know much about her personality or what you like about her in particular, from that standpoint at least...I get ya.

No shame in liking how someone dresses either!

[personal profile] majorshipper 2012-06-15 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she is. She's kinda rough around the edges and doesn't give a fuck about haters. I wish I was like that, so it appeals to me.
Chris is so adorable. I mean, just looking at him sometimes you'd think he's a jerk, but he is the sweetest, most honest person, and yeah, he's hand-on-the-back-of-you-neck shy. It's endearing.
Basically I like all the people. :P
elaminator: (Avengers: Cap)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-06-15 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
The world would be a much better place and we would all be much happier people if we didn't give a fuck about the haters. If girl has that down, more power to her!

He covers his mouth while laughing! Rubs his neck nervously during interviews! Laughs awkwardly when he doesn't know what to say! Evans is all of what you said and at least to me...it is incredibly endearing. I like awkward people. They're my people.

[identity profile] lit_wolf.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
She definitely looks done up with make up and hair, but her eyes look so empty and dead that I can't find her beautiful. She just looks so bored!
elaminator: (SGA: Sheppard - Did not see it coming)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-06-15 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yea, I can't/won't fight that one because she really does. But...*shrugs* I still think it's a good look on her, beyond her dead expression.

[identity profile] broadwaybabe11.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I find her extremely attractive. Idk.
elaminator: (SGA: Sheppard - Did not see it coming)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-06-15 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Attraction is a thing not easily quantified, and really, who cares what other people think? Whatever you like is perfectly okay.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-15 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
I think she looks better with blonde hair. I'm not a fan of hers, but I saw her with it and it makes her face light up a lot more. Then again, I think she looks rather plain either way.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-15 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it suits her better, too.
