I don't think it goes quite that far. Not every person was a willing Nazi or willingly aided Nazis, there was a point where either people assisted them and took orders or they were in danger of being killed themselves. Whereas Atta was a quite willing terrorist

That isn't true. Germans could choose most of the times. They chose to kill Jews.

You know that this didn't apply for most Germans? You know that there were several resistance movements? Do you know what happened to the Germans who resisted? They were killed by the Nazis (i.e. "Die weiße Rose", Stauffenberg and his conspirators etc.).

Today it's easy to say "oh, but I would have done something" when you are not living at these times. Would you still be so brave if you knew they would kill you if they found you out?
A lot of Germans were gutless but if you face the threat of getting killed what would you have done? If you were facing angst-inducing Nazis who were controlling everything?

Oh and by the way, there were refugee ships with Jews who were turned down by other countries. These countries obviously also chose to kill Jews.

I'm not here to downplay the Third Reich but your statement takes the easy way out.

And do you know that most of the people in those resistance movements were anti-Semitic too? They were against the Nazis for other reasons, since Nazis killed or imprisoned communists, socialists... Most of the people in Germany back then hated the Jews or didn't give a shit about them, you just can't do something like the Holocaust without that condition.

And yeah, people who turned down those ships were fucking murderers too. And the people from other countries who helped to kill Jews.

I'm a Jew with a huge Nazi kink. I have no problem with anyone, Jewish or not, being into this kink. But don't start *defending Nazis.* No, what you're saying isn't as bad as someone who straight-up says "Hitler was right and I wish he'd exterminated all Jews," but it's still not okay.

I completely agree that not all Germans were or are evil. I know of the resistance movements, and the Germans who chose to help Jews, and I think those people were incredibly admirable. But don't think for a second that there was ever an excuse for being a Nazi.

You can defend this kink without defending the people that it's based on.

Just want to say that my dad (a German) was ten when WWII broke out. He experienced Nazi Germany firsthand (and has some really wild stories, some good, some horrible). He did say that the reason people didn't step up and stop things once they began to realize how bad the Nazis were (and even then, you have to remember that the average person didn't know about the concentration camps, either, and so didn't know just how bad they were) was that if you did defy them, you didn't have the SS beating down your door and dragging you kicking and screaming into the street. You just... disappeared. Like, you'd go to bed with your neighbours snug in their beds in the next apartment, and when you woke up-- they were gone. No broken-down door, no cries in the night, just gone.

You guys have no idea how absolutely terrifying something like that is. So glad they were stopped.

It might have started in Germany, but half of Europe including Spain, Italy and Soviet were in on it by the end. Holding Germany and only Germany responsible for WW2 is missing the picture on a massive scale.

I hold Germany responsible for the Holocaust, even if there were people from other countries conquered by Germany willing to help them. And no one has mentioned WW2
