B5 really is a mixed bag. It has weirdly terrible politics, incredibly uneven writing, and some moments of "humor" that are almost painful to watch.

But for every stilted piece of dialog there's a rousing speech, and say what you want, JMS writes a real pretty battle speech.

And there's G'Kar, who basically redeems the entire show.

I'm not surprised its luster has faded a bit over the years, but I can't help having a whole lot of fondness for it.

G'kar, Londo, Lennier, Vir and Ivanova are definitely my faves and I loved watching them develop as characters. The rest can be a bit hit or miss for me.

I wound up enjoying the graphics in a "look at how far we've come!" sort of way. Along with how ambitious the scope is, even if the graphics were known to be crappy they tried. Some shows I watch forego world-building/scope because of their budget and wind up suffering for it, I'm glad B5 at least tried.
