i do this too! however, i don't mind if other people don't read it, since i write it mostly for myself. i think in a way, that's more fun, since you can do whatever you want with it without worrying about an audience's opinion.

but who knows? maybe more people are interested in one or more of your fandoms than you think, or they'll treat the characters they don't know as original characters.

If I saw it, I'd read it. I'm curious how everything fits together. I can see Bloodlines, Dresden Files, Good Omens, and Supernatural being in the same universe. What I really want to know is how Channel Awesome and Myst are involved.

Yeah, all I got out of that is how hilarious a Supernatural/Myst crossover would be.

Oh hey Myst- middle school me never did figure out that game- but crossing that with those fandoms I'm sure leads to very interesting results.

unrelated but I've been thinking of a Supernatural game for ages now. Action RPG with an open world US as the map, skills like knives, guns, lock picking, Latin, magick, etc. Not Sam and Dean centered though, original characters set in the show's universe and using it's lore. Maybe taking place during the Dullest Apocalypse Ever so there could be some WORLD BUILDING!

ahem. just wanted to get that out. /scuttles away

THIS SOUNDS AMAZING. if this was a game, i'd totally play it. if it were fic, i'd totally read it. basically, if it existed, i'd be all over it.

THIS SO MUCH

The SPN verse is so vast and there's so much potential. There's a lot of wasted potential and a lot of just plain old room in the world they created.

As a guy who loves an insame amount of fandoms and posted a secret about crossovers several months ago, I salute you! And as for obscurity, I recognise 3 fandoms within that picture, so don't worry about obscurity! :D

Keep being awesome, OP. :)

[identity profile] ladyknightanka.livejournal.com 2012-06-18 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I do this, too, OP, and I think I probably haven't written it already for the same reason. People would side-eye me so much, lol.

My latest weird crossover headcanon is a Supernatural/FAKE thingy, which maybe isn't that elaborate or even strange (NYPD detectives + the Winchesters wouldn't be uncommon, I don't think, except FAKE is a manga). The only thing is, Sam, Dean, Dee and Ryo are only background characters in my brain. Instead, it's Adam Milligan, the Winchesters' half-brother, who comes to live with them as a teenager, then becomes BFFs with Bikki and Carol. Oh, and his brothers are mafioso, not hunters, so there's a tense relationship between the grownups. And Michael, the head-honcho archangel in Supernatural, is a rival mob prince who unintentionally becomes friendly with Adam. ...Yeah. I don't know, either. No one would read that, right? ^___^;

Tl;dr: I'd read your crossover. You should write it, if only for fun. Maybe I'll write mine someday. ♥

(Anonymous) 2012-06-18 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, OP, are you me? I've been trying to keep it to two fandoms of medium popularity in order to get any concrit on my works. But multi-fandom crossovers with intricate world building to make it all fit will always be a weakness of mine.

Some people like to brainstorm, and some of us actually enjoy hearing it. Things like, let's say, Superwholock(plus other fandoms) or 50s Stuck are just collected ideas about crossovers/AUs, and basically a huge ejaculation of delicious fanon sprayed all over our brains.

Screw fic if you can't write it, just share already!

I used to do that all the time, back in the day, but I never wrote any of it, mainly because it was usually horrible Mary Sue stuff. But I loved my worlds.

Relevant to nothing: I MISS 'Vampire: The Masquerade'!!! The Requiem just isn't as fun for me. And fffuuuuu I miss 'Kindred: The Embraced' too ohmygooodddd -_-

Sorry, seeing Vampire in your secret made me happy.

Keep on writing your fics, anon. And maybe share them? Maybe you'll get people interested in the other fandoms!

I wish only someone would think of an Dresden Files/Rivers Of London crossover. ;)

(Anonymous) 2012-06-19 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I thought there was one on the dresden kink meme so I went and hunted, but it was just a prompt for one. Hopes and dreams: crushed!

(But someone totally should.)

I'm just here for MYST.

(Secrets that mention it always bring me back. Our computer desk used to be littered with notes and clues and such on post-its. And for awhile we couldn't even play it--we got it as a Christmas gift--because our first computer didn't have CD-ROM.)

Same, although I'd be interested in reading a Good Omens perspective on the Ages. I'm not familiar with the other fandoms...

Then again, I wrote a Professor Layton-Riven crossover, an Indiana Jones-discovers-D'ni one, I'm planning a Journey-Uru fanart thing and a Star Trek (especially TOS)-Myst one would be the bee's knees.
I think that Myst actually works grrrrreat with crossovers, especially within its Uru frame. Whether the other fandom's based on Earth or elsewhere entirely, from about 8000 B.C. to the distant future, there's always SOMETHING that can match. I'd just be wary of superpowered characters or series with a complex cosmogony that would clash with Myst's own, but that's just me being picky.

I feel like if you include some of those bigger ones, people would be interested in seeing how it all "fit together" too!

maybe!

or maybe finding a way to make original work with crazy inter-dimensional nonsense would be fun, too...

(Anonymous) 2012-06-19 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Write it. A lot of people will read big crossovers only knowing one or two fandoms. And even if they don’t, write it. You can get it out of your head and move on. Or maybe you’ll like it enough to write more. Write because you want to. Write it because you can. Write it.

Oh anon, write it! I say this as someone who's written 15,000 words (and counting!) of British Comedians crossed over with Final Fantasy X. There may be a surprising audience for your crossover :D

Well I'm seeing three fandoms there I love and one I'm vaguely familiar with, so hell yeah I would read that fic. :D I say go for it. And post a link around here somewhere when you're done. xD

(Anonymous) 2012-06-19 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It can be done, OP. Vathara wouldn't be so well known, otherwise.
