I bet your writing is really cool, OP. I think kink memes are a great way to gain confidence in one's writing. I actually know quite a few writers who basically always write on the kink meme first and if the response was positive, they post it under their username. I think I would do the same if I was good at writing :)

Plenty of people do this, or like the anon above said, post it then later link it to their username. Either is fine and you should do whichever you're more comfortable with. Glad you have that creative outlet though! Maybe in time you'll be more confident about your writing and won't mind other people knowing it's you.

(Although...this IS the internet, so...username or not, they don't have to know exactly who you are. Or hell, create a sock-puppet account just for your fic and fanart.)

It's okay if you don't want to claim your kink meme fics, anon. Have fun branching out as a writer. I hope you'll get the confidence someday to share your work on your usual LJ (I bet you're awesome), but you're in no rush. It's all about enjoying yourself. :D

If it makes you feel better, there are some really good fics on kink memes. I hope you can someday get confident in your writing, enough to maybe post it with a name(username) attached.

Probably a good idea. I've seen a lot of people get overwhelmed when their fics get a huge following. Fandom pressure can be really intense, which is why I mostly just share my fics with my closest friends.

Kink memes are the best places for fandom fringes and new writers to have an outlet. I posted a story on a kink meme and received positive feedback and requests to claim it. I never claimed it though because I'm a fandom fringe and my journal is empty. Still I had the tons of fun seeing people whom I admired as writers post comments on my fic. It was like giving them back some of the joy they'd given me.

I thought this was the whole point of kinkmemes?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-19 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
...You know what, I think I'm going to do this too. It sounds like a good solution.

In some fandoms I do the same thing. You get the feedback and the enjoyment without the pressure and expectations. Don't feel bad, people still get to enjoy your fic either way. And if you feel good about it you're more likely to produce more so it's a win/win.

I post anonymously to kinkmemes when starting to write in a new fandom until I feel comfortable enough to post fic in that fandom under my name. I think it's a good way to ease into a fandom.

That's pretty much what kink memes are for. I never de-anon on a kink meme fill until I'm sure people like it and it's completely finished. Cause you can abandon an anonymous fic and no-one will ever have to know...

Keep writing anon, OP, and I hope you feel less insecure soon. :)

I do this too! maybe at some point i will actually post my fics on my lj, but in the meantime it's a very good way to get more and more secure about my writing.
