THAT BOOK! So cool to see a secret about it! I read it a few years ago, when someone lent it to my mom, and now I really want to read it again, but none of the libraries/bookstores have it.

Perhaps you can buy it used...?

Interlibrary loan couldn't get it for you?

You're never too old for a good book. I reread The Little Prince ALL the time, though it's for children. ;)

I like to think it only pretends to be for children.

if you're not too old for HP and Pokemon, you're not too old for this.

OMG, China Miéville secret! He is so amazing, and although I absolutely do not think you're too old for Un Lun Dun, OP, you should also try some of his other books. The worlds he creates are always amazing.

Not OP, but I've actually hated everything else I've read by him except Un Lun Dun. He builds things up really slowly, which can be a drag.

I really enjoyed that book, I wish more people had read it. And I totally get what you mean about Deeba. And, basically, I am incoherent which is why I don't discuss books online but it's a great book.
sabotabby: (books!)

No one is too old for that book! That book is amazing. Everything he writes is amazing, fullstop.

Oh, thanks for the reminder! I saw someone Rping from it way back ( wish I could remember where or I'd link you :( ) and went and downloaded an e-book for it! I need to get to reading it!

You're never too old to read China Mieville's books.
(If you haven't already, you should check out some of his adult literature, like The Scar and Perdido Street Station.)

Fuck yes China Miéville.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-19 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Omg yes I want to go to Manifest Station. I loved all the ideas he threw around in that book, but was kinda sad about how hard he'd toned down his prose style in order to write a children's book.

Looks like I'll be book shopping again. Thanks OP!

(Anonymous) 2012-06-21 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
ooooh, i picked this up 'cause the cover art was freakin' gorgeous. now i wanna re-read it...

you're never too old for anything, op. :)
