I have this with killing wolves/dogs in...well, pretty much any game that has that feature. Especially if they make wounded puppy noises when they die...

I have the same problem with several games, but I also have a solution! Just flee the fight -- works like a charm, as long as it's a random encounter or free-roaming critters (i.e. not a boss fight).

No, wait a minute, that was wrong of me to say! In certain -- awesome -- games you can flee from boss fights too, and thus be spared from having to kill that one enemy/rival/whatever that you actually loved. So it's definitely worth giving fleeing a chance :)

ZOMG, anon, you are so not alone in this. I feel horrible killing the slimes or the cat-things. (Exception being the King Metal Slimes toward the end of the game. I need the XP.) As soon as I get strong enough that I can release them, I do every time.


Bonus: I visited the Squenix store the last time I was in Japan. It's FULL of slimes! Big slimes, tiny slimes, King Slimes, metal slimes, Slime Knights... So I ended up getting a slime plush that was too big to fit in my luggage and had to ship him home. XD I can't help it. I <3 slimes.

I ALWAYS run from slimes! Poor little things... They just squidge up like "Hi! How ya doin'? That's a nice sword!"

Now the bats? I'll beat the living hell out of those little jerks! XD (I have to hate on something or I'd never level up)

The slimes never die, they just reform. ;) My house is a perfect example of this, but I'll just show you a shot of the greatest concentration thereof:

Absolutely! I love slimes. I have lots of plush ones in my house and I hate killing them in-game.
