there is! it's called 'tumblr saviour'. i'm not sure exactly how it works, so you may want to google it. it lets you block things tagged with certain tags from appearing. you can use it, for example, to keep all posts tagged 'avengers' or 'the avengers' from showing up.

Actually it's not even just the tags anymore. If, for example you block "Avengers", if it shows up in the text of the post, it'll get blocked.
