15. I'm not religious, but I wear a silver crucifix necklace all the time. I've only taken it off a few times in the seven years I've owned it, and then it was only through necessity or because the chain had broken. Yes, it started out as a fashion statement ands I'm only wearing it because I like it, but it's become a lot more to me than that. I now consider my crucifix necklace an important part of what makes me me, if only because it's my necklace and I refuse to take it off.

If this makes me a poser, I guess it makes me a poser. But it's my necklace and it's got a lot of sentimental value to me and I also happen to like it, so I'm not going to stop wearing it.

Tangentially, Japan isn't a Christian country so for the Japanese the cross is just a cool fashion statement. Maybe it's annoying to Christians, but by the same token devout Hindus probably aren't too thrilled about all those Ganesha tees, and it's probably best we don't get started on the trinket stores and their little Buddha incense burners. There's barely a religious symbol out there that hasn't been 'cheapened', so to speak, by people outside the faith taking a fancy to it because they think it looks cool and exotic. Why should Asian cultures find crucifixes be any different?

Thank you! I was trying to figure out why the wording of that secret had me so annoyed, and you've hit it on the head.
