Why are you upset about "too many" warnings? How does it negatively affect y or anyone else? It helps someone, and you read five extra words. What's the issue?

This is how I generally feel about it. Like...if you don't like the triggers, fine, but they aren't hurting you either and they might be helping someone else. You can do what you want with your own fic, but if people go to the effort to try and cover 'everything', then that's thoughtful of them.

I'm guessing there are some people who have been yelled at for not including a "cancer trigger warning" or whatever.

That was my interpretation - people getting mad at the OP or others for not warning for things and then pointing to authors who warn for everything and insisting that is standard practice.

I think it's more the idea that people who don't warn for everything under the sun are getting flack for it. Which is unreasonable.

Agree. This actually calls to mind a scenario I read a while ago in which a person got harassed the FUCK out of for warning for slash. Like, where does the line get drawn? Warning for everything you can think of is good, but if one of those warnings seems inappropriate, then that's bad, too. It just seems like there's nothing fanfic writers can do right.
