In the future, could you link to secrets like #14 instead of displaying them? I really don't like seeing photographs of dead animals, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. (You consistently link secrets that has nudity in them, so it's not like you're totally against the practice.)

Raccoons and more! But mostly raccoons.

Hullo! Last day of the week, tomorrow we start a new round of things. I've got something in mind for a theme...ish thing that'll carry us through a month of cute stuff easily, but let's see how it goes first. I'm glad to see that the rats yesterday went over well, though. Rats in general are cute to me- and in all honesty domesticated rats make far better first time pets than animals such as dwarf hamsters, which, while usually cute and small, also tend to be horribly inbred, not very trainable, and vicious little buggers that do not cuddle (I speak from experience here, sadly).

But anyway, today's animal! Let's turn our attention to the one and only raccoon, aka the common raccoon, aka the North American raccoon, aka the northern raccoon, aka the coon.

It's an American animal through and through, being native to North America. While they came from forests, they're insanely adaptable and smart and now live anywhere from heavily urbanised environments to way up in the mountains. They have extremely sensitive hands, and more than anything else, touch is their most important sense- that's why raccoons can often be seen patting at things. If you're looking for tiny and cute, though, the smallest raccoons can be found in Florida. Those guys only weigh ab out 4.5-6.5 pounds on average. Since most raccoon subspecies are generally similar, though, I won't really be differentiating between them for this post.

Well for a start it depends what you want to do. Do you want to get into just New Who or Classic Who or both? Tbh I thought New Who was a nice introduction for people who haven't necessarily seen the show before. It was a lovely nod to the original series but also had enough new information and enough of a break for people to dive in and not be confused. I've seen plenty of others advise new fans to start there with the Eccleston series and then dip into the classic series if they feel like it. Because a word of warning: the classic series is very much of its time. The pacing can seem horrible compared to modern sci-fi and the stuff about wobbly sets and bad costumes is very much true - part of the reason I love it is because of these things, but people who are used to bigger budget and better effects might not be so forgiving.

Don't worry too much about seeing everything ever as well. The show contradicted itself quite a bit even during the original run. Novels and audioplays complicated it further. But it's all worth it if you really want to give it a try.

It's not a done deal that Sherlock Holmes is asexual in ACD canon. This isn't an attack on you or on asexuality, but it was never explicitly started that Holmes was asexual, so it's not ridiculous that other people would interpret the character differently.

I honestly don't believe that Collins is that subtle. Did you miss the literary analysis of "The Hanging Tree"? The fact that she spells out every damn thing ever in those book? Nah, not buying it. If that had been the case, I'd expect a little more revulsion/displeasure on Katniss's part when she was regarding the other people who voted in favor of the Capitol games, at the very least.

Look, I know it's always always great when you find someone you admire who also shares your views on whatever, but it's also good to keep in mind that liking problematic things doesn't make you a problematic person.

Their show also doesn't seem the type to actually bring up politics or serious discussion times timesheet entertaining their viewers (although it is telling that they appeal to the lowest common denominator). Maybe send her a message if she's up for having her brain picked on this?
