I'm sorry, but one of the few things I am absolutely skeeved by is pedophilia and attraction to people who look genuinely like adolescent children. Any sort of attraction to adolescents is dangerous, disturbing, and should not be acceptable, as no child has the mental facilities to fully agree to such a relationship. Openly portraying such a relationship as a good thing shouldn't be considered "sweet".

Even if he's not attracted to her when she's a kid, isn't it kinda... odd that in the future he'll be romancing and sexing up someone he remembers needing a diaper change, or someone he had to teach how to say "spaghetti," or someone he humored and watched Dora the Explorer with? That wouldn't... maybe... kind of put him off? I know if I'd watched my future partner grow up (while being much older) it would creep me the hell out.

You know, I think the whole thing is a creepy situation altogether, just from a narrative perspective, but within the context of the narrative I don't find Jacob creepy for what happened. It wasn't his fault, and he couldn't control it anyways.

No, what I find gross and weird is Renesmee's reaction. She's already showing a creepy level of possessiveness toward Jacob, and (through Word of God) Renesmee already knows exactly how devoted Jacob is to her. Since vampire babies already know everything they ever need to know magically anyways, her calling Jacob "my Jacob," and comprehending what that means is just...ugh.

People are always so quick to jump to whining about pedophilia (seriously, look that word up) that isn't even there that they don't seem to acknowledge the fact that the person who imprints has no free will anymore. The age difference is weird, but I'm way more creeped out by the potential for abuse from Renesmee. Jake is literally her slave, he has to do anything she wants and be happy about it.

It's incredibly unsettling. Not necessarily for what it is--if the fucked-up vampire baby is going to be an adult in seven years, and Jacob's not a total creeper...and I squint really, really hard, and pretend that Jacob spends all of that time backpacking through South Asia and organizing online communities for shapeshifters (furries--so misunderstood by the people who wander onto their message boards!) instead of raising her...and then she had to court him for his hand in marriage...Yeah, okay, I need to stop plotting out fic. But I might be okay with such a thing?

But the super creepy part is the WT-everliving-F was SM thinking? WHAT MADE THIS SOUND LIKE A GOOD IDEA? Why is there this obsession with youth? Why is a rapidly aging child a good thing instead of incredibly sad? It's like staring straight into her id. And her id is looking back, and damnit, I want to give Stephanie Meyers a hug now, and some pamphlets on feminism.
