Even if he's not attracted to her when she's a kid, isn't it kinda... odd that in the future he'll be romancing and sexing up someone he remembers needing a diaper change, or someone he had to teach how to say "spaghetti," or someone he humored and watched Dora the Explorer with? That wouldn't... maybe... kind of put him off? I know if I'd watched my future partner grow up (while being much older) it would creep me the hell out.

But she's a vampire. She's not a real baby. She can already speak in full sentences with no pronounciation problems and read books by the time she's, like a month old. I can't remember exact numbers, but she was definitely never like a real baby. I don't think she'd have ever needed a diaper change, except maybe on the first day or two (and then only because she was born premature.)

Jesus, she was already understanding and communicating about a week before she was born! Her kicking was breaking Bella's ribs but when they told her this she was able to understand and stop.

SA, forgot to mention, she's even being played by a 10 year old actress. She is clearly not meant to be a baby by any stretch of the imagination.

But from Jacob's POV, she's still a baby. Advanced maturity or not, Jacob had the hots for her mother, saw Bella when she was pregnant with her, and saw her when she was a baby, however briefly that might last. And if I'm not mistaken, Jacob has only been privy to the supernatural world for a very short time, he was raised human with human morality - it *should* still skeeve him out to be having *any* feelings for a being he saw right after she was born.

I'm not blaming Jacob. I am side-eyeing SMyers entire thought process. It's WRONG.

Yes, but other author's have done that. Afra Lyon from Anne McCaffrey's Talent series had that going on with Damia (who somehow matured mentally at a faster than normal rate), as well as having been attracted to his wife's mother (who was older than him- and, holy shit, I think I know where Meyer's got her inspiration from!), and, yes, it was just as fucking creepy.
