Okay so that's the way it works in this magical world, but don't you find it a bit odd or sick that a writer actually decided that's the way it was? Who does that? Who sits down and thinks up a way for an adult man to be in love with and groom a child for sex? There was absolutely no need for that other than the author wanted it to be that way. That's more than a little fucked up.

Yes, SM's attitudes are creepy and it does come off like that, but it is not literally like that within the context of a friggin supernatural universe.

Why do people not understand this? In RL, that behaviour IS child grooming and it IS wrong. However, in a universe with MAGIC, it is a completely different situation and is incomparable with a RL scenario because we don't have MAGIC FREAKIN WEREWOLVES in RL.

That's really all I need though, tbh. It is a creepy concept, and it's one that most people are majorly squicked by whether it's meant that way in canon or not.

Tbh I kind of enjoy most of Twilight for the creepy-factor, but this is the one part of the story that I just can't get into. I can't decide if SMeyer actually believes this is an acceptable way to pair the spares or if it's really a diabolically genius plot to troll as many people as possible on so many different levels.

I asked a question. I've approached every response regardless as to whether or not it has agreed with me with respect. I accept that if someone could back up their claims of it being non-manipulative with say... something from the books (which I have read, to be fair), I would gladly back down.
