How old will Jacob be Renesmee is legal? Like, in his late thirties or so? I've seen stories where couples had an age gap like that, but in those stories the older guy wasn't in love with her when she had just popped outta the womb. :\

I haven't read the books, but I THINK that since Renesmee is half-vampire she'll age fast? And I think that Jacob will slow down his aging to wait for her to catch up or something?

Even if she ages faster physically that doesn't account for mental/emotional maturity or for the fact that he'll have greater influence in her childhood than healthy so imo still gross.

Well, she already has much greater emotional/mental maturity that a real baby anyway. She's like... already speaking in sentences after one week, or something?

But I agree that the influence he has over her childhood is still creepy as fuck, even though her childhood is only going to be about 3 or 4 years long.

I'm pretty sure language skills are different from emotional maturity as most language skill comes from brain development and emotional maturity mostly comes from experience.

Well that's true, but I think that she's supposed to be able to absorb and process information much faster and better than a human, so she will emiotionally mature faster than a human too.

Word of God says that she's already mentally comprehending things at an adult level and that all half-vampires are like that. She's basically already mentally mature, only as a child.

Yes, it is very dumb (I don't think SMeyer actually understands how mental development works) and very creepy.

Then I guess it's okay when he fucks her now, right? She's mentally an adult, so the fact that she's not a year old and he wants her sexually isn't weird at all!

Werewolves in this universe just stop aging when they transform. They have to stop transforming for... I don't think it's mentioned exactly how long, but anyway, some time and then they start aging again.

As far as I remember they start aging again when they want to. Has to do with waiting for the imprintee and all.

Of course, this is all so Jacob can be with his true love!baby foreverrrrr.

You're talking about physically aging I assume? So the lesson of the story is that looks are more important than mentality, and that as long as you look legal/adult it's okay.

No, she will mentally/emotially age at a rapid rate as well. She's half vampire. She will mentally be an adult as 7. She is shown in canon to be mentally about 3 years old when she's physically about 2 months old.*

May not be remembering exact ages correctly, but she is definitely shown to speak and behave like a toddler when she's only a few weeks old.

Does not stop the fact that age of consent is 16, the minimum age of consent in the US. It'd be statutory rape for another nine years.

Wasn't she magic speed-aging baby?
