i agree for the most part and it really annoys me when people assume what you have, but your first paragraph kind of sounds like "i'm not like those bad crazies" to me and i hope the annoying expressed here is aimed at the assumptions and not that you don't want to be taken for schizophrenic/bpd/did/psychotic?

Oh god no, that's not what I meant at all! Those were examples of things other people have thought (and told me they thought) once they found out about my illness. I've had conversations that basically go like the person I'm talking to asking me if I think there are aliens in my brain or if I have more than one personality.

I am so sorry, that isn't how I intended that comment to come across at all.

No worries, I figured that was it I just wanted to check!

And yeah I've experienced the same thing, and also because I have psychosis as part of one of my dxes they assume that means violence, or that i'm hallucinating while talking to them, or that i'm totally unable to comprehend reality, even though I'm on a really effective medication regime now.
